The latest from Sunrise.

A running record of how Sunrise gets better. Every entry is something real, no versioning theatre, no “minor improvements.”

Coming soon

First Light

An overnight agent that preps your morning before you open the app. The morning just arrives knowing more.

  • Pre-loaded context. While you sleep, Sunrise scans your calendar, open PRs, and inbox. Your morning brain-dump becomes a confirmation, not a cold start.

  • Carry-forward intelligence. The overnight layer prepares yesterday’s rollover items, ranked by urgency and horizon alignment. Half the morning work is already done.

  • Horizon nudging. If your horizon is “ship the beta” and you haven’t committed in 3 days, the morning check-in opens with a gentle nudge, before you even start typing.

  • Pattern memory. Over time, Sunrise learns when you’re most productive, where you overplan, and what kind of days need a different opening. Invisible configuration.

First Light runs entirely silently. No new settings panel.

Polish

Faster check-ins, smoother billing

Replies land quicker, and free/Solo billing edge cases got cleaned up.

  • Faster replies. Check-in responses no longer wait on a background sync before appearing — you see and hear the reply immediately, the sync happens behind it.

  • Free to-dos, unblocked. Adding a to-do as a free user could wrongly trigger an upgrade prompt. Manual add now always works, no AI required, trial or not.

  • Solo subscription sync. Fixed a stale-cache bug where Solo subscribers could briefly see AI and voice check-ins locked right after subscribing.

Release

Sunrise for iPhone

Sunrise leaves the menu bar. Voice check-ins, streaks, and Horizons, now in your pocket.

  • On the App Store. The full check-in loop, native on iPhone. Sign in with the same account to sync goals, streaks, and history with Mac.

  • Sign in with Apple. Sign in on Mac or iPhone with your Apple ID — no Google account required.

  • Native billing. Solo subscribes through StoreKit on iPhone, no separate checkout flow.

Polish

Billing, hardened

Subscription state moved server-side, so it can no longer drift out of sync between devices.

  • Server-verified entitlement. Subscription status is checked against Apple and Stripe records directly, not just trusted from the app — plans stay correct even after an offline stretch or a reinstall.

  • Smarter "Manage Subscription". Opens Apple’s sheet for App Store subscribers, the web billing portal for everyone else — automatically, no guessing which one applies.

Recap, history, and check-in polish

The shareable artifact gets meaningful depth. History gains pattern intelligence.

  • Milestone badges. Streaks of 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, and 100 days earn a distinct moment. “30 days. This is now just who you are.”

  • GitHub on recap card. When GitHub is connected the card shows which repos you touched and how many commits shipped. The merge-vs-intention read made visible.

  • Week shape strip. Mon–Fri completion dots on the recap card, coloured by outcome. Makes the Friday card a weekly artefact.

  • Day-of-week bar chart. Your completion rate per weekday, visualised once you have two weeks of data. Tuesdays are your strongest. Now you know.

  • Pattern insight line. A single computed observation (overplanning, momentum, or best/worst day). Only appears when there is enough data to say something true.

  • Thinking dots. Three breathing dots appear the moment a proactive check-in fires. The gap between the chime and the first word no longer looks like a crash.

  • D1–D7 progress bar. During your first 7 days the footer shows “First week · Day X of 7” with an amber fill bar. Disappears automatically on day 8.

  • Privacy one-liner. “Voice runs on secure infrastructure. Goals stay on your machine. GitHub tokens never leave your device.” Always visible in Settings.

  • Voice mute button. A single icon in the header. Toggle it and Sunrise goes text-only, persisted across restarts.

Feature

Horizons

Durable long-term intentions that connect daily goals to what actually matters.

  • Horizons. Up to 3 ongoing intentions (“ship the beta”, “get healthier”, “build in public”) that daily goals can link to. The AI names the connection when it sees it.

  • Horizon nudging at EOD. If a goal you completed today served a horizon, the wrap-up names it explicitly. The daily ritual starts to feel like it goes somewhere.

  • Voice fallback chain. ElevenLabs → macOS say → text-only. The app works regardless of API status and switches silently.

Feature

EOD rollover and clean AI context

The wrap-up gets memory. The AI stops mentioning things that no longer exist.

  • Rollover picker. At wrap-up, Sunrise asks which unfinished goals carry to tomorrow. You choose. Nothing rolls forward without your say-so.

  • Ghost-goal fix. Deleted or completed goals were sometimes referenced in later check-ins. Fixed: the AI context now scrubs removed, pending, and completed items.

  • Waitlist infrastructure. Resend-powered confirmation and launch emails, ready to fire when the public release goes out.

Feature

Voice and subscription

Sunrise speaks. Stripe is wired. The habit loop gets a price.

  • ElevenLabs voice. Flash v2.5 at 16kHz, word-by-word reveal timed to audio so text and speech land together. Under 1 second end-to-end.

  • Stripe checkout. Solo tier with a sunrise:// deep link to activate after checkout. Google identity verifies the tier on sign-in.

  • Bulk directives. The AI can now clear all goals or mark all goals complete in a single move, useful for the “forget yesterday, start fresh” morning flow.

Feature

Sync, subtasks, and timing

The app gets a backbone: identity, cross-device state, and a sense of time.

  • Google OAuth + sync. Sign in once. Goals, history, and settings follow you across machines via Cloudflare KV.

  • Subtask breakdown. The AI breaks a complex goal into sub-steps when the task warrants it, one level deep, never recursive.

  • Workday-timed check-in. Tell Sunrise when your workday starts and the morning check-in fires two minutes later, every day. “Timing as coincidence.”

  • Sunrise audio cue. A synthesised audio tone plays when a proactive check-in fires, so you always know one arrived.

v0.1.0Release

Hello, Sunrise

The first build. A tray-bar app that turns your workday into a daily ritual.

  • Morning brain-dump. Tell Sunrise your must-dos in natural language. It captures them as goals and confirms back in one sentence. Under 60 seconds.

  • Midday and EOD check-ins. Scheduled voice conversations from your menu bar. No dashboards. No notifications. Just a short conversation at the moments that matter.

  • Goal directive pipeline. Set, add, complete, update, remove. The AI manages your goal list through structured directives, invisible to you, precise under the hood.

  • Calendar context. Sunrise reads your calendar so check-ins are aware of what’s coming. Works on day one without configuration.

  • GitHub cross-reference. Connect GitHub and Sunrise can see what you actually merged today. The gap between intention and output, made visible.

  • Cloudflare Worker backend. All AI calls proxied at the edge. Your API key never lives in the app. Fast, private, deployable in seconds.

Every morning, a little smarter.

Sunrise updates quietly. You just notice the morning check-in getting better.
